Arriving at Jyväskylä
Jyväskylä is located in Central Finland and is easily accessible by public transport, regardless of whether you traveled from inside the country or abroad. You can arrive here by bus, train or plane.
Regularly operated connections by bus or train from Helsinki, Tampere, Turku and other big cities are easy to use. If you book trains early on, they are also very cheap.
While you can take a connecting flight from Helsinki to Jyväskylä airport, please note that the airport is located outside the city center and you need take a taxi to the center (about 50€). Trains and buses arrive to the very center of Jyväskylä.
If you arrive from Russia, trains from Saint Petersburg stop at Lahti where you can change to a direct bus.
It is easy to travel to Jyväskylä by train. Helsinki airport has an easy-to-use train connection leaving from the terminals.
Connections from Helsinki are operated regularly and many of them are direct – if you need to change train in Tampere, this will be easy as well.
Travel time from Helsinki is about 3,5 hours depending on the service. All trains are operated by the Finnish national train company VR. It is also easy to catch a train connection from Helsinki-Vantaa airport to Jyväskylä.

Bus connections to Jyväskylä are quite good. Connections are mostly direct between cities. Buses are often cheaper than train, due to large competition which allows for lower prices . Also when booked early, you may have a chance to get tickets for less than 10 euros. There is at least one connection from Helsinki every hour.
